New title: Homeschooling is fun

I asked my son, who was originally wanting to title our blog, "Homeschooling Sucks" for an idea for a title. He yelled out, "HOMESCHOOLING FUN!" He was in the middle of the activity you see above.

I was thinking, as I took these pictures, that I really am blessed. I have three children who get along famously. In fact, my husband and I sometimes wonder if they are UNITED AGAINST US! ;D LOL!

Fair Weather Adventure

This post was originally written on January 7. But I never got the pictures onto it. Believe it or not, I am spending most of my time with the kids. :)

Is it really January? Last week it was in the teens and we had over a foot of snow accumulation. Now it's in the 50's. Well, even if it's the herald of the global warming apocalypse, I'm not complaining.

Today, Simon showed us how to make paper boats. Keziah thought it would be great to paint them with watercolors. And it was my bright idea for us to walk to the park and sail them. Now, some brilliant homeschool mom might find a way to tie in some sort of fancy-schmancy science lesson on currents or buoyancy. Not me. We just sailed some boats and had some fun.

Getting Started

Today was my children's last day of school. Yes, it is now officially "Winter Break." But after New Year's, they won't be returning to their classrooms! We have joined the ranks of the 2% of children in America who are homeschooled.

When I told my kids we'd be blogging about our homeschooling journey, they didn't say anything. Well, I guess they don't really have a clue what all of the fuss is, although they love to see pictures of themselves on my blog. I asked them to suggest a title for the blog, and my son promptly responded, "Homeschooling Sucks!" Hmmm... I guess you could say he's a little uncertain about what it will be like at this point. (He often thought "regular" school sucked, too.)

I, however, am feeling more and more enthusiastic about how wonderful it will be!

And I promise, there will be a good title on this darn thing at some point.
